“Caihuela impresses immediately for the control of her pitch-perfect delivery, her poise, and her virtuosic ability to essay the challenging acrobatics of the vocal part. La Madrileña shows itself to be her attentive and responsive partner as she deftly navigates the aria’s many emotional tempests and its oscillations between fast and slow passages. […] The project’s of value on many counts. First of all, several of the pieces present arias in their first modern recordings. Secondly, a number of the composers and by extension their works will be unfamiliar to many a listener, which makes E-Motion a terrific point of entry. And last but most certainly not least the treatments by the Madrid-born Caihuela and her partners are tremendous and make these eighteenth-century pieces, all created between 1726 and 1768, sound fresh. It also doesn’t hurt that the performances have been captured with exceptional clarity by the production team.”
