Biography

Specialized in vocal and chamber music repertoire, spanish pianist Irene Alfageme Borge began her musical studies in Valladolid with Isabel Guerras and continued at the Conservatorio Superior de Salamanca, Royal Academy of Music in London and Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève with Javier San Miguel, Claudio Martínez Mehner, Patrín García Barredo, Ia Fountain and Dominique Weber. She attends to the prestigious Masterclasses for repetiteurs at the Accademia Solti-Te Kanawa, Residence Mozart du Festival d’Aix en Provence and the International Lied Masterclasses in Brussels, receiving valuable advises of Richard Bonynge, Ann Murray, Wolfram Rieger, Julius Drake or Rudolf Jansen among others.

She has collaborated with singers as Felicitty Lott, Bryn Terfel, Magdalena Kozena, Iain Bostridge, Angela Denoke, Katerina Karneus, Charlotte Hellekant, Ekaterina Bakanova, Annalisa Stroppa, Roman Trekel, Hanno Müller or Ainhoa Arteta and conductors as Jesús López Cobos, David Afkham, Lepold Hager, Jean Christophe Spinosi, Lionel Bringuier, Vasily Petrenko, Ros Marbá or Jordi Casas. As repetiteur she has work with Hoffmann Theatre of Bamberg and Teatro Calderon de Valladolid in productions of Teatro del Liceu and Teatro de la Zarzuela. She has accompanied masterclasses of Angelika Kirschlager, Francisco Araiza, Nicola Beller Carbone, Carlos Chausson and Jaume Aragall. Besides she regularly collaborates with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, Orquesta y Coro Nacional de España and she is a founder member of the Natalia Ensemble.In 2018 she became artistic director of the project “Calderón Lírico” of the Teatro Calderón de Valladolid.

Irene has offered concerts as soloist and chamber musician in Europe, Canada, South Africa and Japan in festivals and auditoriums as Palau de la Música de Barcelona, St. Martin in the Fields, Barceló Hall of the United Nations (Geneva), Yamaha Hall (Fukuoka), Hill Side Darayama (Tokio), Brooklyn Theater (Pretoria), Fundación Juan March and Isaac Albéniz of Camprodón. As soloist, she has performed with the Amersham Festival Orchestra, Orquesta Andres Segovia and Orquesta Sinfónica de León. Her concerts have been broadcasted by Radio Nacional de España, Radio Clásica and Radio Cataluña Musica.

She has been awarded at the following competitions: Janet Duff Greet Prize, International Piano Competition Ciudad de San Sebastián, International Competition Pedro Bote, Young Emergent Artists Junta de Castilla y León, Ateneo Guipuzcoano, Chamber Music Competition Ciudad de Manresa and Monserrat Alavedra.

Since 2012, she is Professor of the Escuela Superior de Canto de Madrid and she has given masterclasses in Spain, Italy, Portugal and Switzerland.
