Biography
With a long international career, he has for years cultivated an intense concert activity at prestigious festivals in more than 25 countries across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. With a versatile approach to music, Daniel Oyarzabal currently maintains a fully multidisciplinary professional activity that encompasses an impressive range of artistic and educational interests.
As a soloist on harpsichord and organ—his main instruments—he has performed in concert at major venues such as the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg, the Düsseldorf Opera House (Opernhaus), the Estonia Concert Hall in Tallinn, the Auditorium of Lyon, the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía and the Palau de la Música in Valencia, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Teatro Real and the National Music Auditorium in Madrid, the St. Florian Abbey Basilica in Austria, and the cathedrals of Moscow, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Florence, León, and Seville, to name just a few.
He graduated Cum Laude in harpsichord and organ from the Conservatory of Vitoria-Gasteiz, his hometown, and received advanced training with some of Europe’s leading teachers through postgraduate studies in organ, harpsichord, and historical instruments at the superior conservatories of Vienna, The Hague, and Amsterdam.
Oyarzabal holds several prestigious awards, including the Special Press Prize at the National Showcase for Young Performers in Ibiza (1991), First Prize at the International Music Competition of Rome (1998), and Third Prize at the 19th International Competition of Nijmegen, the Netherlands (2002). He is currently a professor in the Bachelor’s Degree in Contemporary Music Composition at TAI University School of Arts and Entertainment—Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid, and principal organist of the Spanish National Orchestra.
