Biography
Violinist Andrés Ortiz has given recitals at venues across Europe and the United States. He has made live recordings for Radio Télévision Suisse, WTFM Chicago and the Phillips Collection in Washington, and gave the world premieres of Tomás Marco’s Tapices y Disparates for violin and guitar and Tomás Garrido’s Partita II for solo violin, of which he is also the dedicatee. He performs regularly as part of the animAcorde duo with guitarist Pablo Rioja. A committed teacher, he is co-founder and co-director of CEPIC (Madrid’s Centre for String Instrument Teaching).
He studied at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid, Detmold’s Hochschule für Musik and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London; his teachers included Santiago de la Riva, José Luis García Asensio and Simon Fischer.
