“In Spanish mezzo-soprano Lucía Caihuela, the music lover is exceptionally well served. Her artistry seems to effortlessly elude criticism. […] Caihuela convinces entirely on her own terms, with a richly nuanced timbre — warm, velvety, focused, and versatile — combined with stylistic intelligence and expressive refinement. […] In the instrumental ensemble La Madrileña she finds excellent partners. The ensemble — richly scored with strings, winds, and continuo — does more than accompany: it also makes its presence felt as a soloist in its own right. Particularly fine is the flute solo by Laura Quesada in “Misero pargoletto” by Egidio Duni. The recording by Gonzalo Noqué, available in both surround and stereo, is a true gem.”
