The phrasing flows smoothly, and the music unfolds naturally and with great precision. Also striking is the strong engagement with this repertoire. Dynamic accentuation and shaping proceed conceptually in line, the voice leading is extremely transparent, and the balance between the four voices leaves nothing to be desired either. It is therefore logical that important pillars such as stylistic awareness and score understanding are in excellent hands with this quartet. The recording, in both surround and stereo, is superb.”
